Blessings

Today I'm feeling sentimental so I thought I would list out all of the blessings in my life, not in any particular order of course:
  • My health
  • Great friends that are always there when I need them and who laugh and cry with me and even do dramatic re-enactments to humor me
  • Family (yes even the "dead to me sister")
  • A good job, I even like it most days
  • My awesome sweet kitty
  • A supportive, fun boyfriend
  • A house to call my own
  • Hobbies I can spend hours on
  • My bike
  • Freedom
I could go on and on, but I'll stop there.  I'm absolutely loving this weather.  I hope you are having a fantastic day!!

10 Months

Yesterday was 10 months of dating the same person for me.  Dan and I get along really well, we have had a lot of fun together over the past 10 months.  Bicycling trip to Missouri and Jazz festival, RAGBRAI, next month we are going to the UNI Homecoming game, and all the stuff in between.  We've had some downs, every relationship does but this is the first time I have felt committed to changing my perspective and compromising.  Not compromising to the point that either one of us feels we are giving up something we believe in but compromising to the point that both are happy with the outcome.  Many people have learned this already, it has taken me some time.  I have learned a lot in the process.  And I'm hoping that things continue moving forward.  Only time will tell.   I'm trying to take it one day at a time and enjoy the process.

I'm lucky in that I have a lot of friends with healthy relationships.  It is so refreshing to be around couples who truly enjoy each other and do so after many years together.  I did not have that growing up.  For so long I really doubted it could really happen.  I'm glad I was wrong!

Distanced

Things are so crazy and it seems like they are crazy for everyone I know lately.  Which means everyone is doing their own thing.  I need to try to figure out a way to fit more friend time into the schedule.  Signing up for the class on Wednesday nights at DMACC is a really good thing for me if I decided to follow through and get my PMP designation.  However it is lending less time for friend-work-home balance.  And I'm having less time to work out.  Good news is I got the boyfriend to sign up for a Y-membership so that means more work out time and spending time with the significant other at the same time.  Sundays are going to be a priority to get to knitting as I really miss hanging out with my knitting friends.  I think with winter coming things will slow down for everyone, at least I'm hoping.  And I really miss my running buddies but I just cannot make myself get up at 5:30 a.m. to meet them at 6 for a 4 mile run.....but I may have to consider doing it once a week just to see them.  Decisions and priorities I suppose.

The scarf I'm knitting for my sister is turning out to be really gorgeous, I hope she likes it and have decided if she doesn't I'm keeping it for myself.  I'm hoping she likes it though.  It's hard to tell with her.

I really need to get this blog set up better, again it is lower on my list of priorities but hopefully one of these evenings/weekends I can spend some time getting it more personalized.

Any ways hope everyone has a great Monday and week!

Where to start?

Okay I started this new blog then panicked, what will I write to entertain the masses or at least the one person that might take interest in the life of a single thirty-something woman living in the midwest.  Then I was comforted by a close friend not to fret the blog is really for myself.  A way to keep track of memories, thoughts, whatever else.  So, I'll probably be blogging about my knitting projects (have lots to get done in the next 3 months), my bicycling adventures, and anything else that comes my way.

I'm super exicted about the name of my blog.  DaisyChains.  It just feels like a comfortable place I can put these "things".  I've always opted for cozy over style.

So here's to putting the links and loops into my chain, enjoy!
